Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering
Computer Engineering deals with the hardware and software design of digital systems and computers. The field encompasses both the practical and theoretical aspects of the use and design of computers. The early design methodology of computers, analysis, processor design, control design, memory and I/O organization, and system organization - are still important, but have been likely transformed by new applications.
Length and Nature of the Program:
No. of years to finish the course: five (5) years
Lecture units: 223 units
Laboratory units: 22 units
Elective subjects, Field trips and Seminars required for course completion.
Graduates' Expected Career Paths:
The Computer Engineer may be engaged in research design, manufacture, operation or management, and in software and hardware development.
Computer Engineering offers a variety of challenging and rewarding careers:
Computer Design: progress in hardware components such as integrated circuits generates a continuing need for new computer designs and architectures. Integration of hardware and software aspects of new systems requires people with broad based training in both areas.
Scientific Applications: the design and preparation of programs in support of engineering applications.
Manufacturing: Computer control of manufacturing processes, computer aided instructions and computer aided-design.
