National University upended University of the Philippines, 65-60, to solidify their campaign for a semifinals seat in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball tournament September 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Bulldogs almost wasted an 18-point advantage but clutch baskets from Emmanuel Mbe helped put the pesky Fighting Maroons away.

Reigning league MVP Bobby Ray Parks starred with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists while Mbe chipped in with 14 markers and 13 boards as NU climbed to 8-5, a win away from at least a playoff for a Final Four spot.

On the other hand, Mike Silungan and Alvin Padilla scored 14 and 11 points,
respectively, in their last game for UP.
