NU Nazareth School SHS Students Present Research at DLSU-D SHS Conference 2026
NU Nazareth School continues to uphold its commitment to academic excellence as its Senior High School STEM students earn acceptance to present their research at the 6th De La Salle University Dasmariรฑas SHS Student Conference, happening on April 15โ16, 2026.
Five research groups from different STEM sections will represent the school, showcasing innovative and purpose-driven studies that address real-world challenges across technology, sustainability, and community resilience.
Among the accepted studies is BODEGAS: Barcode-Oriented Data Evaluator for Goods in Alerting Shopkeepers, presented by Flynn Maquinay, John Albert Abdon, Islam Harb, Allan Eduarte Jr., Clarence Aetan Valerio, Kristofer Gabriel Polidario, Ajani Ferrer, Samuel John Flores, Maverick John Martinez, and Jhay-Angelo Varona. The study introduces a technology-driven system designed to support efficient inventory monitoring and assist shopkeepers in managing their goods.
Another group will present Efficiency of KAPETONE Biofuel from Coffea arabica as an Alternative Cooking Fuel, by Breana Rain A. Barro, Eri Nicole M. Buligan, Dennise Ley E. Sapunto, Judith Sophia V. De Guzman, Jeanne R. Dela Cruz, Maria Denisse D. Gomez, Danica Aera T. Guinto, Ann C. Huang, Claudia Zoe D. Ocampo, and Aaliyah Cassaundra P. Vista. Their research explores the potential of coffee-based materials as a practical and eco-friendly energy source for everyday use.
Advancing solutions for the home, students will also showcase Sustainable and Portable Appliance for Renewable Kitchen (S.P.A.R.K.), developed by Angel Reign C. Cruz, Elmer Felip P. Caro, Patricia Marie V. Parreno, Nina Jeremy T. Agoncillo, Rain Danielle H. Cruz, Mizaec Clovem T. Fontamillas, Dwayne M. Malabanan, Matthew Samuel E. Mendador, Mallows Kazandria Louisse D. Paredes, and Zildjian Jersey J. Rocabo. The project promotes accessible and sustainable kitchen technologies.
Addressing environmental concerns, Development and Testing of B.A.R.K. for Floating Low-Density Polyethylene Waste in Waterways will be presented by Andrea Haley P. Asuncion, Humprey Godwin B. Altuna, Kyle Christoffe R. Antonio, Angelica Jude P. De Asis, Bernard S. David, Karylle Leigh E. Gonzales, Patrick Kyle A. Pagala, and Gabriel O. Peralta. Their study highlights a practical approach to mitigating plastic waste in aquatic environments.
Completing the roster is B.A.L.A.Y.: Development of a Portable Post-Typhoon Shelter Inspired by the Ifugao Fale House, by Cyrelle G. Alcantra, Alexandra Ysabelle S. Andaya, Rhian Jade S. Bulanadi, Angelica O. Canonoy, Franchesca Vianney C. Esguerra, Jasmine Cleine S. Galit, Stephanie Rai D. Gayacao, Ashlee Shane A. Horca, Ireneo Mar U. Manzano Jr., Tracy Mariella S. Pagente, Raul Raphael G. Posada, Jhanelle L. Salazar, and Robert Arvin R. Tan. This research presents a culturally inspired and community-oriented innovation designed to provide temporary shelter solutions in disaster-stricken areas.
All research groups are guided by their research adviser, Mr. Lourence E. Retone, whose mentorship has supported the students in refining their work and preparing them for presentation on a wider academic platform.
