NU Manila Commemorates 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution

In commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, NU Manila, through the Institute of General Education, hosts a meaningful program centered on reflection and peace education. Anchored on the theme, “Peace Education: Educating for Peace in a Diverse Society: Respect, Inclusion, and Social Responsibility,” the event encouraged students and faculty to revisit the lessons of EDSA in today’s context.

The program featured Mr. Anastacio Marasigan of De La Salle University–Manila, who spoke on “EDSA @ 40: Pagkakaisa at Lakas ng Bayan sa Hamon ng Panahon,” and Mr. Richard Rodriguez of the University of Makati, who discussed peace education and its role in fostering respect and inclusion. An open forum followed, allowing participants to engage in thoughtful dialogue.
In line with National University’s core value of patriotism, the activity strengthened awareness of our shared history and sense of social responsibility. To mark the occasion, the NU Manila premises were adorned with yellow ribbons in commemoration of the anniversary—a symbol that here at NU Manila, we remember and continue to uphold the spirit of unity, freedom, and democracy.
