The NU Baliwag – School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) successfully held the seminar “Research for Impact: Building Sustainable Futures through Technical Review and Research Presentation” on September 25, 2025, at the NU Baliwag AVR.

The seminar featured Dean Mark Chris Lapuz, who served as the keynote speaker. In his address, Dean Lapuz underscored the transformative role of research and innovation in shaping sustainable practices and creating meaningful impact across industries.

Adding depth to the discussions were distinguished alumni—Mr. Ralph Carlo Guansing, Mr. Andrei Gian Reyes, Mr. Adrian Valerio, Mr. Vicente Esguerra III, and Ms. Ashley Esguerra—who shared their personal research journeys. Their insights highlighted how academic research not only enhances professional growth but also drives industry development.

Guiding the conversation with expertise was Mr. Bienvenido Manabat, HM Program Chair, who served as moderator and fostered an engaging exchange of ideas among participants.

The event was spearheaded by Sangyugto Productions, under the leadership of Chairman Angelo Sta. Ana and with the guidance of adviser Chef EJ Cunanan.

Beyond its academic achievements, the seminar reinforced NU Baliwag’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education – by nurturing research-oriented learning

  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – by aligning research with evolving industry needs

  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – by promoting innovative solutions through academic outputs

  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by strengthening collaborations among students, mentors, and alumni
