NU Baliwag Takes Part in the 4th United Nations Open Science and Open Scholarship Conference

NU Baliwag proudly represented the Philippines at the 4th United Nations Open Science and Open Scholarship Conference, held from October 16–18, 2025, at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan.

With the theme “The Right to Participate in and Benefit from Science,” the three-day international gathering convened global leaders, educators, researchers, and policymakers to advance open and inclusive scientific collaboration.

The conference featured in-depth discussions on pressing global issues such as artificial intelligence and the digital divide, open infrastructure for knowledge sharing, science communication, and public engagement—all in alignment with the UN Pact for the Future. These sessions emphasized the shared responsibility of nations and institutions to ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of scientific progress.

Representing NU Baliwag was Engr. Jenalyn M. Columna, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, whose participation underscored the University’s steadfast dedication to equitable access to scientific knowledge, open collaboration, and sustainable innovation.

Through active engagement in this global platform, NU Baliwag reaffirms its mission to contribute to a world where education, research, and technology serve as bridges toward collective advancement and inclusive growth.
