NU Manila Hospitality Management Students Showcase Skills in ‘Blade to Bloom’ Fruit Carving Competition

NU Manila Hospitality Management students highlighted their artistry and creativity in the “Blade to Bloom: Filipino Floral Fruit Carving Artistry – Final Competition.” The event, organized by the MICE HRM 234 (GTHMICEL) students under Symora Events Production, in collaboration with the Kitchen Essentials and Basic Food Preparation classes of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), showcased Filipino craftsmanship through the delicate art of fruit and vegetable carving.

The finalists—all 2nd-year Hospitality Management students—captivated the judges with their floral-inspired creations rooted in Filipino culture, each piece reflecting precision, patience, and passion.
Distinguished guests and judges included Ms. Maria Theresa Ortigas, Ms. Catherine See-Dueñas, Ms. Monique Castañeda, Ms. Luisa Camacho, Mr. Marc Rey D. Galido (Director, Student Development and Activities Office), and Ms. Maria Louella P. Sta. Maria (Director, Academe, Internship, and Placement). Also gracing the event were Guest of Honor Ms. Maritess Ortigas, Dean Medelen Forbes, Program Chairperson Mr. Rodolfo Cabardo, Tourism Chairperson Mr. Christopher Manlapaz, and the faculty advisers who provided their continuous support.

In partnership with Greenhills Mall as the venue host, the collaboration between Symora Events Production and the Hospitality Management program offered students meaningful, hands-on experience in event coordination and public engagement.
