About Us

The Community Extension Office is responsible for the development and implementation of sustainable community projects, social responsibility, and long-term learning programs on behalf of National University.

Mission

To develop and facilitate community-based strategies, programs, and projects through collective participation which improves socio-economic opportunities, preserves cultural vitality, and promotes environmental responsibility.

Vision

The National University Community Extension Office as the primary center for community development steers all stakeholders in building resilient and sustainable communities.

Nagkakaisang Ugnayan Volunteerism Program

The Nagkakaisang Ugnayan Volunteerism Program (NUVP) fosters social responsibility and community engagement by building a dedicated volunteer network. Through five core programs, NUVP mobilizes students, faculty, and stakeholders to drive sustainable and impactful change in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. Volunteers gain leadership experience, build connections, and contribute to a more resilient and inclusive society.

Usaping Seguridad at Kaligtasan (DRRM-Resiliency)

This initiative strengthens disaster preparedness and response capabilities among volunteers and communities. It provides comprehensive training and hands-on activities to equip individuals with life-saving skills in emergencies.

Gintong Kaalaman at Kabuhayan (Educational Enhancement and Economic Prosperity)

This initiative supports education and economic empowerment by providing academic assistance, skills training, and livelihood development opportunities for marginalized communities.

Natatanging Kultura at Pagkakapantay-pantay (Cultural Vitality and Social Equity)

This initiative fosters cultural appreciation, inclusivity, and social justice by creating opportunities for community engagement, empowerment, and advocacy.

Aksyon para sa Kalikasan (Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action)

This initiative promotes environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainability through hands-on volunteer activities that protect and restore ecosystems. This could involve tree planting, coastal cleanups, or educating the public about environmental issues. Volunteers could also help to develop and implement sustainable practices in the community.

Yamang Pangkalusugan at Kapakanan (Community Health and Well-being)

This initiative improves community health and access to medical services through volunteer-led healthcare missions, wellness programs, and public health campaigns.

National University participates in the International Coastal Clean-up

On September 20, 2025, 269 National University volunteers actively participated in the International Coastal Clean-up spearheaded by SM Cares at SM By the Bay. This massive environmental effort resulted in the successful collection of 1,062 kilograms of trash and debris, significantly contributing to the preservation and protection of the coastal environment. The initiative strongly aligns with SDG 14 (Life Below Water), specifically targeting the reduction of marine pollution from land-based activities.

Seminar on SDG 13 – Climate Adaptation in Action: Building Resilience Today
